GREEN ROSE CHAFER BEETLE (NP8210)

Green rose chafers are capable of very fast flight; they do it with their wing cases down thus resembling a bumble bee. They feed on flowers, nectar and pollen, in particular roses (from where they get their name); which is where they can be found on warm sunny days, between May and June/July, occasionally to September. The green rose chafer is ¾ in. long, and has metallic green coloration. Our Hand Puppet version is 8 inches in length.

Black widows spiders notorious spiders identified by the colored, hourglass-shaped mark on their abdomens. Several species answer to the name, and they are found in temperate regions around the world. This spider's bite is much feared because its venom is reported to be 15 times stronger than a rattlesnake's. In humans, contrary to popular belief, most people who are bitten suffer no serious damage—let alone death. Fortunately, the spiders are nonaggressive and bite only in self-defense, such as when someone accidentally sits on them. Our Hand Puppet Black Widow doesn't bite anyone at all.
